How to Beat Cravings During Your Juice Cleanse

My personal tips for staying motivated and handling cravings during a juice cleanse—mindfully

 

I get asked about cravings all the time.

What do you do when they hit?

How do you push past them?

Do they ever go away?

And here’s my honest answer: cravings don’t mean you’re failing.

They mean you’re healing.

When your body is used to reaching for coffee at 3 p.m., chips after dinner, or a pastry with your latte—it’s going to notice when those things are gone. But that doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. Quite the opposite. It means your body is waking up.

A juice cleanse is more than a reset. It’s a pattern interrupt.

So yes, cravings might come. But so will clarity, lightness, energy, and joy. Let’s talk about how to make it through the tough moments—and come out stronger (and glowier) on the other side.

First: Let’s Reframe the Craving

Instead of fighting it, meet it.

When a craving hits, take a breath and ask yourself: What am I really hungry for right now?

Often, it’s not the chocolate—it’s comfort. Not the bread—it’s grounding. Not the crunch—it’s stress relief.

This is your moment to turn a craving into a check-in. Sit with it for a second. Not in judgment—but in curiosity.

I like to think of cravings as little signals from the body saying: “Hey, I’m working through something here.” The magic is in how you respond.

 

My Favorite Craving-Busters

Here are a few of my go-to moves when I’m on a cleanse and that old emotional eating urge creeps in:

🌿 Walk It Off

Move your body. Step outside. Breathe in the air.
Even a 10-minute walk can reset your nervous system and clear the fog. I often sip on Morning Minerals or The Beginner Cleanse while walking to the shop—it keeps me grounded and energized without weighing me down.

✍️ Journal Through It

Grab a notebook. Write exactly what you’re feeling—no filter. You’ll be surprised how much lighter you feel when you get those thoughts out of your head and onto the page.

Try this prompt:

“Right now I’m craving ____. But what I really need is ____.”

🧘 Meditate (Even Just 2 Minutes)

Sit. Close your eyes. Put one hand on your heart, one on your belly. Breathe deeply.
Even if your mind is racing or your stomach is growling, this moment of stillness tells your body, “We’re safe. We’re okay.” I often recommend this during Day 2 of our Gut Cleanse, when emotional detox tends to hit the hardest.

Drink More Juice. Seriously.

Let me say this louder for the people in the back:
Don’t starve yourself on a cleanse.

This isn’t about restriction. It’s about nourishment.

If a craving is loud, drink more juice. Add an extra I’m Celery and I Know It, or sip on The Skinny mid-morning to keep blood sugar steady. One of the biggest mistakes I see? People not drinking enough—and then blaming themselves for "failing."

Drink the juice. Drink more if needed. That's why we call it juice feasting, not fasting.

Choose Your Environment Like It’s Your Superpower

If your kitchen smells like garlic and your family is eating lasagna—it’s going to be harder to stay strong. No shame. Just strategy.

Set yourself up to succeed:

  • Avoid scrolling through food-heavy Instagram pages.

  • Unfollow foodie accounts (just for a bit, they’ll be there later).

  • Spend time with people who get what you’re doing (even if they’re online).

One of my clients made a little daily ritual of opening her fridge and saying:

"This is for me. I deserve to feel this good."

It stuck. And she got through a full 5-day cleanse with zero guilt and tons of grace.

My Personal Tip: Make It Sacred

Cravings often show us where we’re disconnected.
Use them as a portal back to yourself.

Light a candle. Play your favorite calming music.
Sip your juice slowly. Let it be a ritual.

When I’m cleansing and a craving hits hard, I grab a Sea Moss Shot and sit with it in silence for a minute. I imagine it going straight to the parts of me that feel worn down, tired, or achy—and I say thank you. Thank you for showing me where I needed care.

You’d be amazed what a 2 oz shot and a mindful pause can shift.

And If You “Slip”? It’s Okay. Really.

Maybe you took a bite. Maybe you had a moment.

Here’s what you do need: compassion.
